Before you start with the search engine submission, it is important to make sure that the web pages are optimized and the website is checked thoroughly. This concept of making the web pages optimized for the search engines is known as Search Engine Optimization (SEO). The better a webpage is search engine optimized the higher ranking it will achieve in the listings of the search engines when you do search engine submission. This concept is very critical since usually people look at the first or two pages of the search engine results. If your website is listed in these higher rankings, the chances of driving traffic towards your website will be more. Thus, if one focuses on the techniques for search engine optimization you can make sure that the web pages are made appropriate for not only search engine submission but achieving higher ranking as well.

Here are some tips for effective Search Engine submission of your site to a search engine:

1. Make sure that your website is ‘search engine friendly’. How effective is your search engine submission depends on certain things i.e. title tag, meta tag and headings tag. The title tag should be about 60 characters which should include few keywords as well. For meta tag, you should at maximum include about 15 keywords and no more otherwise your website will be marked as spam by the search engine. The header tags are marked from 1 to 7. There are a number of search engines which recognizes the headings tags. Thus, it is important that you use header tags for each page titles.

Also, it is very important that you place keyword in the text on each page. It is advisable that you place it in the start of the sentence or higher up on the page. This will make search engine submission an effective one.

2. Manually search engine submission is an effective way of achieving higher rankings as well as generating traffic. There are a number of free submission services which will submit your website to various search engines for you but this is not an effective method since each search engine has its own requirements for a website to get a higher rank. Thus, one should submit to each search engine individually and meet the specific requirements of each search engine for a search engine submission of a webpage. This way you will meet the requirements of each search engine and get listed in the top ranking.

3. The key phrases are very important if you are to get higher ranking or generate traffic to your website. Ensure that you use the right keywords so that when a person searches for information by entering a keyword into the search engine, your website is returned in the result. Also, make sure that the key phrases are put in the text on your webpage having the same color, background, font etc. Do not try to trick by putting keywords in the comments as this might lead to banning of your website.
